Join ETX Facebook groups to save and sell items locally

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

With the holidays coming up in the next few months, East Texans may be looking for ways to save money when buying costumes and gifts.

With one click, you can join the East Texas Toy Box Group.

"I'm really excited about that, that's amazing. The more participation we have the more buying and selling we have. So, it's important to have a lot of people on there, because that's just more items everyone can look at," said the group creator, Jessica Mahfood.

The first group, East Texas Toy Box, is where you can find endless amounts of toys for any age child.

"You just post a comment saying you want it, and usually it's a first come first serve basis. But they could meet you that day, or the next. Then you have an item that is really neat, that didn't cost you a whole lot," said Mahfood.

The second group is called "All Things Baby," where you can save money on clothes, furniture, and other baby items.

If you're looking for an inexpensive Halloween costumes, just go to Mahfood's "Halloween Costumes and More"

"There's a mini mouse costume, size 12 to 18 months, only $5, and you know all these things are used probably one time, for maybe two hours," said Mahfood.

Mahfood says this has been a great way to save money and to teach her four children humility.

"They need to learn that it's ok to buy used things, it's ok for it to not come in a pretty shiny box," said Mahfood.

Jessica says within one month she got more than 400 members to join East Texas Toy Box.

She hopes to get that number into the thousands!
