Report of intruder on campus sends ETX school into lockdown

Posted: Updated:
GILMER, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas elementary school campus went on lockdown Thursday morning after reports of an unidentified person on campus.

The Gilmer Elementary Principal says a student made a report around 9a.m. about an unidentified person on the campus, and the school went into lockdown as a precaution.

Law enforcement was called to the campus to review security tapes, also as a precaution.

Authorities found no intruder or unauthorized persons on campus.

The lockdown was lifted around 10:30 Thursday morning, and Principal John Wink says the school has deemed the report as "false."

Gilmer ISD Superintendent Rick Albritton says the second grader who reported the person on campus has now said that he or she "must have visioned it."

Albritton added that every student is accounted for.
