South Korean Held Hostage

Today, just two days after American, Paul Johnson was beheaded, a militant group threatens the life of a South Korean hostage. The kidnappers identified themselves as the same group that took responsibility for the beheading of American businessman Nicholas Berg last month. A disturbing video aired on Al-jazeera television showing the man identified as Kim Sun-il begging for his life.

The abductors threaten to kill Sun-il within twenty-four hours unless all South Korean troops are pulled from Iraq. Sun-il was captured near Falluja while working for a company called Arab Trading.

Friday South Korea announced it will send three thousand more soldiers to Iraq to assist the US-led coalition starting in August.
