Good afternoon, and welcome to our next-to-last 100 degree day for this summer...I hope!

Here's some of what we're working on for you in the KLTV newsroom today:

First, police say an ETX man told them he shot and killed his former friend because the victim was allegedly spreading lies about him. Police say the  victim, 26-year-old Daniel Cano, was found face down under his carport. Rayvon Bizzell is the accused shooter. Jena Johnson will have that story for you at 5.

And also at 5, Lexie Cook will tell you about a frightening bank robbery that sounds like a movie plot, involving a bomb strapped to a bank worker and more. Make sure to join us for that.

Good news on the medical front: a new medical advice could alert people that they are about to have a heart attack, even if they are not experiencing any symptoms. The device is in clinical and experimental studies right here in ETX, and our Shaley Sanders met with the first patient at ETMC to have the device implanted. She'll share that story at 5.

At 6, some problems have arisen in the request by the convicted KFC murderers to have new DNA testing done. Two men are serving life sentences for the 1983 murders. KLTV's Bob Hallmark will have more on the problem with the request.

We'll also update you on the verdict in the Drew Peterson murder trial. The verdict was handed down today in the murder of Peterson's third wife, Stacy.

And on the web, a tragic story out of Missouri; A Missouri woman sent a goodbye email to her ex-boyfriend, then apparently shot and killed her three young daughters before turning the gun on herself, authorities said Thursday. Click here to read the updates as they are reported.

And join us for the forecast that show us that it will be HOT for at least two more days, and then, slightly better. Join KLTV Chief Meteorologist for the latest and most dependable forecast tonight at 5 & 6.

We'll see you then!
