Whitehouse's Attaway named Southland Player of the Week

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (SFA Media) - Whitehouse, Texas native Brady Attaway has been named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week according to CollegeSportsMadness.com.

Attaway completed 21 passes for 354 yards and three touchdowns in Friday's season-opening victory over Southwestern Oklahoma.

The Lumberjacks racked up more than 500 yards of total offense in the one-sided victory.

Thirteen different Lumberjacks caught a pass in the win, including five that went for at least 30 yards.

The nationally ranked Lumberjacks, who jumped a spot in the Sports Network Top 25 poll Monday, return to action Saturday when they travel to Dallas, Texas, to take on SMU.

The game against the Mustangs is slated to begin at 7 p.m. from Ford Stadium.

    According to Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine, Whitehouse will finish second in 17-5A this coming season. We'll see how it all shakes out, but the good news is, the Wildcats appear to be district title contenders once again. Since winning 12 games in 2013, head coach Adam Cook and company have racked up a total of 13 victories the past three seasons.
