COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (KRDO/CNN) - A homeowner in Colorado Springs, CO, woke up Sunday morning to an uninvited guest in his swimming pool.
But it wasn't just the annoyance of the unusual visitor taking a surprise dip; Scott Smith said he couldn't him out of the pool.
"My dogs were barking like crazy and I couldn't get them to knock it off. I got up on the top of my deck and I looked down and there was an eight-point buck in the middle of my swimming pool," he said.
Smith said he quickly realized the deer was trapped in the pool and called 911 for help.
When police arrived they couldn't get the animal out either.
Firefighters were called for assistance and built a ramp to lure the deer out.
After the deer freed itself, Smith noticed damage to his pool. He estimates repairs will cost about $2,500.
