Michigan suspends two players for Bama game

Posted: Updated:

(RNN) Michigan football coach Brady Hoke has announced that starting tailback Fitz Toussaint and defensive end Frank Clark will not play in Saturday's game against Alabama.

Toussaint, who gained a little more than 1,000 yards for the Wolverines last year, and Clark were arrested in separate incidents during the offseason. Though both had been practicing with the team, their status for the season opener against the defending national champs had not been finalized until Friday's announcement.

Toussaint was arrested and charged with DUI on July 23. Clark, a reserve who was expected to compete for a starting job, was charged with stealing a laptop computer from a residence.

The Crimson Tide and Wolverines kick off Saturday at 8 p.m. Eastern time in the Cowboys Classic in Arlington, TX at Dallas Cowboys Stadium.
