A 16-year-old Lakeland boy is dead after a fight near a Lanier County school bus stop.
He was stabbed by another 16-year-old.
Jaquez Mosley was stabbed about 3:30 Thursday afternoon, and died soon after at the hospital in Lakeland.
Family members tell WALB that his sister was the target of on-going bullying, and that Mosley tried to intervene.
He was killed during a fight at a 10th street bus stop yesterday. His aunt says he was protecting his sister from bullies.
"Yes he was a hero taking up for his sister," said Niobie Clarkson.
Mosely's cousin says she got off at the same bus stop and saw the fight unfold.
"My cousin was like, 'why are y'all messing with my sister? What's in your hand, put down whatever's in your hand' and he came on him with the knife and my cousin hit him, then one of them stabbed him here and the other here, they jumped him," said Nabiha Clarkson.
Mosely's Aunt says he was a great kid.
"A nice little boy that I use to see everyday, he wasn't a bully, you know every child has their days, but he wasn't a bully," said his Aunt.
Destiny Mosely says her brother always stood up for her.
"I'm glad he didn't die for doing something else, at least it was for a good reason," said Destiny.
The GBI has not charged anyone with his murder.
