Handmade dolls delivered to kids at ETX rescue mission

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

A group of East Texas children had some very special and very personal toys delivered to them Thursday.

Residents at Buckner Westminster Place Retirement Community in Longview have spent the last two months making 25 dolls for the kids at the Highway 80 Rescue Mission. The dolls are complete with homemade clothes and hair, and the dolls' new owners are pretty proud of them!

Doll-maker Geraldine Triplett said, "This one little girl wanted to name her doll. I said you can name it anything you want. So the mother spoke up and said, why don't you name it after her? I said to her, Tell her Geri, that's short for Geraldine, so she was going to name the little redhead Geri."
