Roadwork expected to cause gridlock on Tyler's west loop

Posted: Updated:

If W. Loop 323 is the normal route you take might want to find an alternate one this week.

Last Friday, storms moved through Tyler damaging the freshly laid seal coat on W. Loop 323.

Crews from TxDOT's contractor, Big Creek Construction, worked feverishly over the weekend and into Monday to strip the coat and clean up the gravel and debris left behind.

Now they are ready to start the overlay work, and the two northbound lanes on W. Loop 323 between 155 Frankston Highway and Shaw Street will remain closed until Friday morning.

Crews will be doing the hot mix resurfacing during the night, but the lane closures will remain in effect night and day.

Tyler commuters are going to want to use alternate routes to avoid major gridlock on the west loop through Friday.
