More confirmed cases of West Nile Virus in ETX

Good Wednesday afternoon, everyone!

We're busily at work in the KLTV newsroom; here's a taste of what we have in store for you:

Dallas is joining the list of North Texas cities that will use aerial spraying to combat the nation's worst outbreak of West Nile virus so far this year. Mayor Mike Rawlings declared a state of emergency today. More on that and on the new confirmed cases of West Nile virus closer to home that we've heard about this afternoon, as well. Melanie Torre will talk with Joe and Anissa at 5 about what she just heard from a local health department about new cases of West Nile virus right here in ETX.

There's a new warning today for parents who put their kids in a certain kind of baby chair. The Bumbo baby seat is being recalled because little ones are getting hurt after falling out of the foam chairs. We'll have that at 5, or you can go to and click on the Big Red Box to see the link for more recall information.

A group of East Texas musicians are headlining at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth this weekend. The four local boys call themselves "JB and the Moonshine Band." They've become very popular on CMT and we decided to visit with them last night as they rehearsed in Tyler. To hear the band's full story and to find out how  you can catch their performance this weekend, go to and click on the web exclusive.

TJC is working with the FBI to train campus officers in emergency situations which they are calling "active shooter training." The training was put on the schedule months ago, and falls coincidentally just after the tragic shooting at Texas A&M. This is the first time FBI officers have assisted TJC campus police; KLTV's Shaley Sanders was at TJC today where students were evacuated from a dorm for police training. Join us for that at 6.

Two men pull off a daring break-in at an ETX business. It happened late Sunday night at V & T Truck Center in Longview. KLTV's Samantha Jordan got the details and will tell you more at 6.

We'll see you soon on KLTV7 and on where we'll livestream the news for you at 5 and 6.
