Gulfport native Brittney Reese wins gold in long jump

Gulfport native and former Ole Miss star Brittney Reese won gold in the women's long jump at the London Olympics on Wednesday.

Reese produced two legal jumps out of six attempts.

Her second attempt of 7.12 meters was good enough to finish ahead of silver medalist Elena Sokolova (Russia) and bronze medalist Janay Deloach (USA).

Reese is the first American to win gold in the long jump since Jackie Joyner-Kersee in 1988.
