Worried about West Nile virus?

Good afternoon, everyone. Hope you're having an excellent day!

We want to help put your mind at ease this evening regarding West Nile virus in East Texas, so we've spoken to the City of Tyler's Animal Control/Mosquito Director as well as health department director Brenda Elrod about the true extent of confirmed cases of the virus in our area. Join KLTV's Jena Johnson to find out what they had to say tonight at 5.

We also will have Dr. Ed Dominguez with us at 5 to discuss West Nile virus. We will ask him the questions that we think you're hoping to hear the answers to; make sure to tune in.

Also at 5, we'll show you a video that we could hardly believe; a mini-mart store owner fought off some would-be armed robbers...with a stick. And we'll tell you why bird conservationists are blaming your furry felines for the decline in bird populations. How do they know? Kitty cams. Don't miss it.

An East Texas man led law enforcement on a car chase that went through three counties and eventually ended in north Longview. Officials say the man hit three cars in Camp County and another on Gilmer Road, eventually wrecking near a busy intersection. KLTV's Samantha Jordan spoke with police who told Samantha this was the man's second car chase this week! We'll show you more at 6.

Today we spoke with the man who survived yesterday's tragic construction site accident which killed two men. Donald Morris is still recovering, obviously, and shared with us his thoughts about surviving the tragedy, but losing his dad.

And two major companies are taking steps toward planting their roots in Smith County, and bringing with them hundreds of jobs. We'll tell you more tonight at 6.

We'll see you soon!
