Lee quarterbacks the Cowboys defense

Oxnard, CA (KLTV) - The Cowboys have found their quarterback of the future.

Tony Romo need not worry.

3rd year linebacker Sean Lee has become the QB of the Cowboys defense.

"No one has worked harder in the off-season than sean has, he knows every position he knows the entire defense," said defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. "So believe me, he as earned the keys to that and earned the respect of his teammates as well."

In his first season as a full time starter, Lee led the Cowboys in tackles and interceptions.

Lee is more concerend about the plays he didn't make.

"We need to improve defensively, especially in the 4th quarter, especially when we need to make big plays at the end of the game," said Lee. "So I am trying to approach this like it is my 1st year, and make sure I know everything really really well."

"It is his commitment to the game and to the playbook and everything that goes around him knowing what everyone is doing, that is huge," said defensive end Anthony Spencer. "It is hard because we have so many multiple defenses called and for him to know all of that, you cant do anything but respect that."

In just his 3rd year, Sean Lee has already become the leader of the defense, good enough to be a player and a coach.

"When he got banged up in college, he actually coached," said head coach Jason Garrett. "So for a guy in college to be coaching his teammates whatever role he was in, I think that senses what the coaching staff thought of him at Penn State.

"I've always said, you have to put the work in first, got to put the work in practice, the guys have to have confidence in you that you know the defense, so I try to establish that first, and I think they have confidence that when I go out there," said Lee. "I am going to make the right calls and play hard no matter what"

"It is one thing to care about it, it is another to show that care and he does that in everything he does," said Garrett. "He is off the charts."

We'll see if the cowboys defense can follow.
