Lindale One Win Away From State Softball Title

Lindale and Monahans locked up in the first game of the morning at McCombs Field in Austin, and things were quiet for quite awhile. Lindale senior pitcher Randi Warren struggled a bit early, but settled down.  Both teams were scoreless going into the fifth inning, but Misti Cosby led off the inning with a double.  With one away and the bases loaded, senior Brittany Crowell drove in the first run of the game, with another coming on an error.  Jordan Pruitt added two runs to make it 4-0 Lindale. Bottom of the fifth, Monahans had two on with no one out. Lindale retired two, but an error let two runs in to score.  Warren struck out the last batter, then went on to strike out eight in the game, forcing Monahans to strand ten base runners. Lindale won 4-2, setting up a state championship game Saturday with Wharton.
