GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A woman is dead, and a three-year-old is hospitalized after a rollover crash on Interstate 20 Friday afternoon.

Texas DPS Troopers worked the wreck near mile marker 587, about a mile west of Highway 42 on Interstate 20.

Kilgore Police say witnesses reported the white Chevrolet Tahoe blew a tire, left the roadway, rolling at least 60 yards, before crashing through signage on the side of the Interstate, and coming to rest upright.

Traffic was backed up at least a mile, and westbound Interstate traffic was completely blocked at the Highway 42 intersection for several hours. Kilgore Police directed traffic through the area.

A Justice of the Peace pronounced a woman dead at the scene. Her name and age has not yet been released.

A three-year-old child was ejected from the vehicle. Kilgore Police officers rendered first aid to the child and the second passenger, giving CPR and using an automatic external defibrillator (AED) until EMS personnel arrived.

The child was air-lifted to LSU Health in Shreveport. The second passenger was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center by ambulance; he sustained minor injuries.

DPS is investigating.
