Let's talk elections, people...

Good afternoon, everyone. Hope you got out and voted in your county today!

Here's some of what we're working on in the KLTV newsroom this afternoon:

In just a few hours, we'll be getting our first looks at the results from the primary runoff election. Tonight at 5, we'll take a look at some of the big races across East Texas and the state that we are watching closely, including many local sheriff races.

Not only will we offer great coverage for you on-air, but we will be inputting election results as soon as we are able to get them from each county, and you'll see them on KLTV.com throughout the night. Make sure to keep up with the results you're interested all night on our website.

In other news, we'll update you on the Drew Peterson trial that got under way today. The former police sergeant gained national attention when his fourth wife, Stacy, went missing in 2007. Police never proved a connection between Peterson and Stacy's disappearance, but it let them to take a second look at the death of Peterson's third wife. Taylor Hemness will have more on this trial tonight at 5.

This morning, the Smith County Commissioners Court approved a proposal for beer and wine sales on the November ballot. KLTV's Jena Johnson was there for the meeting and will tell you what both sides of the issue had to say; that's tonight at 6.

We'll see you soon; make sure to join us online as we livestream our newscasts at 5 and 6 so you don't miss a thing!
