New shelter giving dogs second chance

From Homeward Bound K9 Rescue:

MURCHISON, TX (KLTV) - Homeward Bound K9 Rescue, a non-profit 501(c) organization was formed in 2012 in an attempt to save as many of the 833 dogs per month euthanized in Smith County, Texas.

10,000 dogs are picked up or surrendered each year in the Tyler-Smith County area with no chance of adoption. Our rescue takes dogs of all breeds, chosen by the SPCA to be fully vetted (spayed, neutered, wormed, etc.), allows the dogs time to heal and then puts them through a week of 24/7 instruction by a professional dog trainer in a homelike environment.  Our mission is to make the dogs completing the two week program more likely to be adopted and for the adoptions to be lifelong. Dogs with basic home manners and house training should make the transition from rescue to family home less stressful for both the dog and the adopter. We have a commitment to provide each of the dogs going through our program a safe, loving forever home.

Homeward Bound K9 Rescue is located at 6480 FM 2339 in Murchison, Texas on the beautiful 100-acre working ranch which also homes Circle Star Pet Resort. Please learn more on our web site, www.homewardboundk9rescue.org

We've been rescuing and placing dogs in forever homes for a quite a while, but recently we've become official!  We want to get the word out that people can adopt healthy, trained dogs from us!

The faces and personalities of these animals can sell themselves, but they will need an outlet for advertising their "top-notch" characteristics.

Our goal is to adopt out six dogs per week, but at this time we will have one to two dogs ready for adoption weekly.  We will be able to meet our six dog goal as funding is collected to expand our program and facilities.
