Don Williams was a pilot in World War Two. He was selected for a special Naval flight group hunting down submarines In the Atlantic. After one twelve hour flight, he volunteered for a rescue mission when an American aircraft carrier was sunk by a German submarine. When he arrived at the scene, Williams was sickened by what he saw. The crew of the submarine was machine gunning the ship's survivors. Williams sunk the submarine and saved 50 sailors, who waved and blew kisses as he circled them in the water. Williams was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his actions.
