According to Longview Police, they received a call about a stolen vehicle, missing from a parking lot in the 700 block of East Marshall Avenue, on July 26, 2012.

At 11:00 a.m. on the same day, an alert Longview police officer spotted a truck matching the description of the stolen vehicle near Sylvan Drive and Mobberly Avenue. Officers tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver attempted to elude the police vehicle for several blocks.

The driver, now identified as 27-year-old John Mallon of Diana, Texas, then jumped out of the vehicle and attempted to flee from police.  He was apprehended a short time later, and was taken to the Gregg County Jail.

Mallon was charged with Unauthorize Use of a Motor Vehicle, according to police records, and with Evading Arrest.

Mallon's passenger, Maura Jeannine Maddox of Kilgore, 23, was arrested on five outstanding class C warrants.
