Many of you in Longview might have seen a couple of hot air balloons on your way to work Tuesday morning.
That's because Tuesday kicked off the U.S. National Hot Air Balloon Championships, and, for the first time, the championships will be held in Longview.
Pilots were asked to complete three tasks Tuesday, and had six targets to choose from.
Around 50 pilots from all over the U.S. are participating in the balloon race.
"We had a lot of people stop by the targets this morning and it was neat because everyone watches the balloons go over and everyone is rooting for the pilots and when they throw the targets they're yelling for them and it's kind of exciting," says Gai Bennett.
The National Championship started Tuesday and will continue through Sunday.
The Great Texas Balloon Race starts this Friday and will also go through this Sunday.
