Social media, video land attempted kidnapper behind bars

Good afternoon, everyone! Hope your day is going well.

Here's some of what we're working on for you today in the KLTV newsroom:

Thanks to a massive manhunt, using local television and social media, Philadelphia police were able to arrest a man who attempted to kidnap a 10-year-old girl. He didn't know what he was up against! Check out the video tonight at 5.

A not-so-new drug is getting lots of attention in the media and, perhaps, in your local doctor's office. Provigil was created for people with narcolepsy and other sleep disorders, but it's been discovered that people are taking it for an off-label purpose: to stay awake for long periods of time, and sometimes for days! Melanie Torre met an expert here in ETX today who explains how the drug works and why it's so appealing to many.

At 6, we'll tell you about Lon Morris College's plans to begin fall classes soon, just weeks after filing for bankruptcy. The school's fall schedule was released recently, and we spoke today to the school's Dean of Students who tells us that right now, the college is trying to attract a lot more than just students.

We'll also tell you more about the community's response to the loss of local restaurateur Gerard Cace, who passed away suddenly yesterday at the age of 59. KLTV's Bob Hallmark spoke with local officials and business people who told us that very few people in Longview were not touched by the energy and charm of Mr.Cace. He'll share their thoughts with you at 6.

As always, Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto will join us at 5 and 6 to give us the latest on the weather and whether we can expect any rain or any relief from the heat.

And we'll talk about clowns. A whole town packed with clowns. More on that at 6.

We'll see you soon!
