New weight loss drug has FDA approval; will you take it?

Good afternoon, everyone. We hope this Wednesday has been a good one for you.

Here's some of what we're working on for you in the KLTV newsroom this afternoon:

The FDA has approved a new weight loss drug that touts significant results in clinical studies. The drug, called Q-Symia, was previously known as Q-Nexa, but the FDA required a name change to avoid confusion with another medication. Melanie Torre spoke with ETX doctors and pharmacies today, and she'll tell you what they had to say about the drug at 5.

Also at 5: It's a shocking crime that involves supposed highly-respected members of society. Now one doctor is dead, and one is accused of murder. Our Taylor Hemness will show you why a prominent plastic surgeon is accused of paying a hitman with silver bars to kill his ex-girlfriend's lover.

We'll also tell you at 5 why the USDA is predicting that food prices will rise in the near future. As you can imagine, it's news we all need to hear, though we're not so happy to hear it!

The Chandler Historical Society wanted a museum. The City of Chandler provided the property, but the building they had in mind needed to be moved to the property. The home: The Yarborough House, the birthplace of Senator Ralph W. Yarborough. Jamey Boyum will show you the moving of the home to the new property tonight at 6, and we'll give you the background of the beautiful home as Joan Hallmark shares more tonight, as well.

Also, The Rusk County Sheriff's Department told us today that mail has been stolen repeatedly from rural mailboxes, and while two people have been arrested in this crime, the crimes have continued. We'll have more on that at 6.

Please join us tonight for these and other stories on KLTV-7 and KLTV.com, where we'll be livestreaming the news for you at 5 and 6.

We'll see you then!
