Graduation Day Arrives For John Tyler Seniors

For hundreds of Tyler high school seniors, graduation day was finally here.  345 students graduated from John Tyler High School at the Oil Palace in Tyler Friday evening.

In one of his final acts as John Tyler's Principal, Dr. Aubrey Todd presented the graduates to TISD Superintendent Dr. David Simmons.

The journey to graduation day can be difficult, but many students say it is all worth it to cross the stage.

"I'm feeling a bit happy and excited, because after all this is graduation," said Shomonik Prater. "We waited 12 years to do it so, I'm just excited."

"It was hard," Joey Antilley said. "We had to do a lot of hard work. I've worked hard, I know my friends worked hard. This day is just a big relief."

Jose Quiroga is happy to share the day with his parents. "I'm feeling very proud of myself," he said. "I'm proud that I made my parents happy and that I finally made it. I had my doubts but I finally made it."
