Did lack of Medicaid reimbursement cause Ellis rehab to suddenly - KLTV.com - Tyler, Longview, Jacksonville |ETX News

Did lack of Medicaid reimbursement cause Ellis rehab to suddenly close its doors?

Good afternoon, everyone. Hope it's been a good one for you!

An East Texas rehab facility, with offices in two different cities, unexpectedly closed its doors on Wednesday afternoon. A now former employee of Ellis Rehab tells us that on Wednesday afternoon, the staff was called in for a meeting, after all the afternoon appointments had been canceled. That's when they were told that the business would be closing, effective immediately. That former employee says the staff was told that Medicaid was months behind on reimbursements. More on that at 5.

A fire this morning at Tyler Pipe was able to be contained after two fire departments responded. According to authorities, it was a small fire in a baghouse at the back of the property. Baghouses are used for venting smoke. One ambulance did leave the scene with its lights on. More on that at 6.

Dr. Ed Dominguez will join us this evening to discuss a move by drug companies to make abuse-proof prescription painkillers which some fear might inadvertently promote heroin use. Dr. Ed will weigh in on this when he joins us at 5.

KLTV is the only media source that requested copies of the alcohol petitions that were submitted to City Hall in Tyler last month. We submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act so that East Texans could have access to that data. A local group called "Stand Strong for Tyler" also submitted a request for copies of the petition. The group said that the city "must be hiding something" to deny the release of public information. However, the City changed its stance this afternoon. We'll tell you what happened, tonight at 6.

We'll update you later on the so-called "Loan Ranger" bandit, the man accused of knocking-off two East Texas banks and who is suspected of at least four more. He has robbed yet another bank in Texas. Make sure to click this link to see all the collected pictures of him to see if you recognize him!

Make sure to join Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto to find out just how much rain we can expect the rest of this week through the weekend. He'll tell you tonight at 5 and 6.

Click here to see our livestream at 5 at KLTV.com if you're not near a television this evening.

We'll see you soon!
