Three SFA Football players named All-American

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS (SFA MEDIA) - Lumberjack senior Willie Jefferson, Cordell Roberson and Gralyn Crawford have been named to the 2012 Beyond College Sports Preseason All-America squad announced publication officials.

Jefferson garnered first-team recognition, while Roberson was a second-team selection. Crawford received honorable mention honors as a punt returner.

The 2011 Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year, Jefferson enters his senior campaign with high expectations after a season that saw the Lumberjacks lead the nation in sacks and tackles for losses. Jefferson led the league, and finished tied for fourth in the nation averaging 1.36 sacks per game. He finished the year with 15 sacks for 114 yards in losses. He set the school single-game record with his 4.5-sack performance against McNeese State, only to close out the season by setting the conference's record with a five-sack performance in the regular-season finale at Northwestern State.

A 2009 All-America selection, Roberson enters his final collegiate season looking to place his name among the all-time best receivers in school and conference history. The two-time first-team All-SLC selection enters the 2012 campaign second all-time at SFA in touchdown receptions (29), seventh in career receptions (144) and seventh in career receiving yards (2,185).

Also one of the school's all-time best receivers, Crawford has made a name for himself as one of the top dual threats in the country over the past three seasons. A two-time return specialist All-American, Crawford has returned four kicks and a punt for a touchdown during his career. He enters his final season averaging nearly 26 yards per kick return and 11 yards per punt.

In 2011, Crawford averaged 23.7 yards per kick return, and was fifth in the nation averaging 13.53 yards per punt return.

The SLC's most successful team over the course of the past three seasons, SFA will open the 2012 campaign Thursday, Aug. 30, when they host Southwestern Oklahoma. The game is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
