Graduation Day For Dozens

It's graduation day for some hard working adults. About 75 students received their GED tonight through the Literacy Council of Tyler in partnership with Tyler Junior College.

It's the largest graduation ceremony in the Literacy Council's 14 year history. It's something these adults have worked toward for months, and in many cases, years.

Graduate Cindy Moscaira said, "It means to me a new start instead of finishing something. It means to start over. I can start my life over. I can look forward to new things and I can go to college."

The Literacy Council of Tyler in partnership with TJC provides GED preparation, English as a second language, academic advising, and workplace literacy instruction for local businesses and industry.

487 people have received their GED in the last 12 months through TJC; 200 of those went through The Literacy Council of Tyler.
