An Athens mother has been charged with capital murder for the death of her baby. But the cause of death remains a mystery.
Twenty-year-old Tiaka Barron remains in the Henderson County Jail on a $1-million bond. She is accused of giving birth to an infant boy and dumping his body behind the Applebee's Restaurant on Hwy 31.
Athens police say a lawncare worker doing landscaping for Applebee's found the partially decomposed body back in March. An autopsy could not determine the cause of death but estimates the baby was carried nearly to full term.
