Sheriff deputy's son indicted for criminal negligent homicide

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A Smith County Sheriff Deputy's son was indicted for criminal negligent homicide and failure to stop and render aid.

Authorities say Jared Stinecipher, 25, left the scene of a December crash that killed a Tyler man.

Police say Stinecipher left his truck and ran into the woods as first responders rushed 50-year-old Arthur Murphy to a hospital where he later died.

Stinecipher remains in the Smith County Jail.
