A police chase wound through Highway 31 in Longview, and ended with a three-car crash in a residential neighborhood.

Lucas Stevens is charged with evading arrest and assaulting a public servant.

Authorities say they attempted to pull Stevens over during a traffic stop. They say Stevens took off, leading them on a chase into a residential neighborhood. Stevens crashed his car at the intersection of Scenic Drive and Branch Street Monday night.

Jordan Husband was trying to get home Monday night when he witnessed authorities arresting Stevens near his home.

"There were cops blocking off the road and there was a Cadillac right here in the ditch," said Husband.

Authorities say Stevens was high on meth when he rammed a DPS car, then attempted to pull a knife on a state trooper. Two of the trooper squad cars were damaged during the chase.

"A couple of them had dents in them and stuff. You could tell they've been ramming each other," said Stevens.

Authorities say fortunately no one was seriously injured. Stevens is in the Gregg County jail on a $166,000 bond.
