WEB EXCLUSIVE: "Pawn Shop Chronicles" takes center stage in LA

PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) - Lights, camera and action! "Pawn Shop Chronicles" is in full swing.

Shooting for the film began June 1st, and you will see some familiar cities as the settings: Baton Rouge, Plaquemine and Friday night's carnival scene is William and Lee Park in Port Allen.

"I want to be in a movie because it would be so much fun," said Valerie Gautreaux.

Gautreaux, 6, hopes to be an extra in the scene moving her acting skills from inside a classroom to the big screen. Her mom, Rosalyn Hano, is thankful for the opportunity all because the film is shooting in south Louisiana.

"It gives locals opportunities to do things they couldn't do because they didn't have money to go to Hollywood or somewhere else big to go so it's good for to do it for the residents and economy," said Hano.

Donna Reichman with the Baton Rouge Film Commission said all the movies shot in Hollywood South last year pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into the local economy. This year, is looking just as good if not better.

"Between 20-30 shows have asked for locations and requested information and have a very clear interest in shooting in the Baton Rouge area so very exciting, and this could take us into the Fall and beyond," said Reichman.

A release date has not been set yet for "Pawn Shop Chronicles."
