Lindale: UIL State Champions

It's like the superbowl of academics and an East Texas high school has won it all. A group of Lindale High School students was presented the state championship trophy in UIL today. With 178 points, more than any other conference, the nine students are state champions in speech, journalism and computer science.

It was the first time for Lindale High School to bring home the state championship. The students say the whole experience was humbling.

Brittany Allen, UIL champion, said, "I'm looking forward to next year because I'm still a junior to bring home the gold. It was so exciting for our entire team to win. It was such a great accomplishment."

Kenny Cauthen, UIL champion said, "I feel honored just to know I'm sitting here with the best of the best and it's just a privilege every day just to hang out with these people.  It's a real honor."

The students work year-round, gearing up for UIL, sometimes working on their events 12 to 15 hours a day.
