Lon Morris College and TJC are in preliminary discussions regarding TJC and their offer to help Lon Morris as it struggles to keep its doors open.
On Tuesday we told you about the athletics department at Lon Morris closing its doors, and longtime athletic director Dale Dotson's concern about the students who were planning to participate in athletics in the fall at Lon Morris, whose plans have now been sunk.
"They aren't kids, but they are to me," said Dotson. "All those people that at this point in time now if they want to participate in athletics have to find a different place. We'll help them all we can but there's only so much we can do."
Fred Peters, public relations officer for Tyler Jr. College, confirms that TJC has had discussions with Lon Morris about possibly helping them in this transitional time for the school. Peters says it is Lon Morris' choice, and their timeframe, as well, and it is too early to tell if any relationship will be formed.
Peters says that TJC wants to do right by the students, Lon Morris College, as well as the City of Jacksonville.
