Report: 74-year-old victim dragged across parking lot during purse-snatching

The South Congaree Police Department is asking for the community's assistance in identifying two suspects involved in a purse-snatching.

Officer say they were dispatched to Food Lion located at 675 Main Street in reference to a purse-snatching on June 12.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 74-year-old female victim who stated while leaving the store she observed a large white truck parked sideways at the front of the parking lot with two men inside, the report stated.

According to the incident report, one of the men approached the victim from the passenger side of the vehicle and began asking her for directions to Red Bank. As the woman was giving directions, the man reached out and grabbed the woman's purse, while the other man hit the accelerator, dragging the woman a short length across the parking lot causing her to fall.

The 74-year-old victim received multiple abrasions, and possible bruised ribs on her left side, the report stated.

Several witnesses say the suspects were driving a white Ford, or Chevy pick-up truck, with a lift kit and fled the scene on to SC 302 towards Pelion.

Police say the passenger in the truck is described as a white male 20-25 years of age, short brown hair, brown eyes, about 5'08", 170lbs., with a full sleeve tattoo of burning flames.

The driver of the truck is described as a white male 20-25 years of age, short light brown hair, about 5'11" and 180lbs.
