Need something for the kids to get into this summer?

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Kids in East Texas are going to have another reason to crack open a book this summer and it's called Bills Bookshelf.

It's a project started by the Literacy Council of Tyler to provide new or used children's books free to families in the community.

The bookshelves are set up at three locations right now.

St. Paul's Children's Clinic, Bethesda Health Clinic, and the WIC office on North Broadway in Tyler.

Bill's Bookshelf was started in memory of Bill Holmes, a local professor, author and volunteer with the Literacy Council for more than 15 years.
