ANDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas man is behind bars accused of impregnating a teenage girl.

Last Thursday, Anderson County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 31-year-old Desmond Carwell for allegedly impregnating a 14-year-old girl.

Deputies were alerted to the incident by Palestine Regional Medical Center staff after the teen was brought in for another medical problem, and the staff found out she was pregnant.

Carwell was arrested at his residence without incident.

Officials say Carwell is on parole for a burglary charge in Anderson County.

Carwell is held in the Anderson County Jail on $150,000 bond; he's charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and a parole violation.
