A Longview man was arrested for allegedly beating his wife's boyfriend with a baseball bat in a Longview grocery store parking lot.

Just before 8:20 pm Sunday, police officers were dispatched to the Brookshires in the 3300 block of Gilmer Road in reference to an assault that had occurred.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man lying on the ground nearly unconscious. After making contact with the suspect, 42-year-old, Terry Glenn Williams, he told them he saw his wife riding in a vehicle with another man, who she had apparently been dating for nine months. Williams stated that he followed the vehicle into the Brookshires parking lot and both he and the victim grabbed baseball bats out of their vehicles and began swinging them at each other.

Williams claimed he was able to block the victim's blow and strike back, hitting the man on the left side of his head. The victim was unconscious and transported to a Longview hospital.

Williams was charged with aggravated assault, family violence and transported to the Gregg County Jail.
