SAN DIEGO (AP) - One of the NFL's best-ever running backs is set to hang up his cleats.

LaDainian Tomlinson will sign with the Chargers today and announce he's retiring after 11 NFL seasons, nine of which he spent in San Diego.

Tomlinson leaves as the NFL's fifth-leading ball carrier with 13, 684 yards. He scored 145 TDs and was the league MVP in 2006.

Tomlinson was drafted in the first round by San Diego in 2001. He ended his playing time with two seasons in a New York Jets uniform.
