Longview church gets historical marker

A historic day for an East Texas church, which has contributed to the community for more than a hundred and thirty years. Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Longview was honored Sunday with a historic marker from the Texas Historical Commission.

Established in 1880 as a mission, it is Longview's oldest Catholic church, and one of the first to hold a Spanish mass. The marker was sponsored by Preservation Longview.
