Free meals for summer!

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

With school out, the East Texas Food Bank wants to make sure kids are getting nutritious meals even if summer has started.

On Tuesday, the Food Bank kicked off their summer food programs at city park in Tyler.

They say since schools over, tons of East Texas kids are looking for a place to hang out with friends, have fun and eat healthy meals.

"This is a very important program because school is out now and in a lot of cases the families count on school lunches as
one of the most important meals of the day for their children," said Dennis Cullinane, "So, when school's out, those meals go away unless we do a program like this that fills that gap."

For a full list of locations where meals will be passed out  throughout the summer, just head over to the Big Red Box.
