New Law Means Prison for DWI Offenders

It's a prison sentence for an East Texas man on his first DWI conviction, due to a new Texas law. 27 year old "Lazaro Baldazo" was arrested in Kilgore on November 1st on drunk driving charges.

His wife and two children were in the car. A new law that went into effect in September makes a first time DWI offense a state jail felony when passengers are 15 years old or younger. Baldazo pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a year in prison.

He is also an illegal alien, and will be turned over to Mexican authorities after serving his sentence.
