East Texan Jailed For Burning Junk Mail

An East Texas man is jailed after he gathered up his junk mail, stuffed it into the drop slot and set it on fire, according to Gilmer police. Police say 42 year old Jerry Carmack made the move when he became infuriated with the Gilmer post office.

Carmack is now facing at least misdemeanor criminal mischief charges. He could end up facing federal charges of destroying U.S. mail. Police tell us the damage to the post office was minimal. Carmack is being held on $2500 bond.
