Sen. Eltife Gets Sides Talking in TISD Controversy
Several thousand kids were kept out of school in Tyler last week in an apparent protest to the reassignment of some black administrators in TISD.
Now, State Sen. Kevin Eltife has become involved to get both sides in the debate talking. Sunday night, Eltife, Superintendent Dr. David Simmons, School Board President Andy Bergfeld, and community leader Bishop David Houston met to discuss the issue.
Bergfeld says the meeting was very productive and the district looks forward to more meetings in the future.
