TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Information from the Tyler Police Department: Investigators along with the F.B.I. believe that the suspect responsible for yesterday's bank robbery at Compass Bank may also be responsible for several other bank robberies.

The suspect has now been dubbed as the "Loan Ranger Bandit" due to the suspect having robbed banking institutions where loans are given and where the suspect wore a Texas Ranger hat.

Investigators believe that he robbed the Summit Bank on 1114 Hwy. 35 North in Benton, Arkansas on January 16, 2009 and again on June 30, 2011.  The suspect then came to Tyler and robbed the Altra Federal Credit Union located at 5523 Troup Hwy. on August 11, 2011 and is responsible for robbing the Compass Bank located at 6910 S. Broadway on May 17, 2012.

Investigators determined that the suspect ran east of the bank yesterday and more than likely jumped into a getaway vehicle.  Police are seeking any information from any person who may have observed the suspect get into a suspect vehicle.

Anyone with information about the suspect involved in this crime are urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833) or 1-800-575-CUFF.  Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.

Tyler Police are on the scene of a bank robbery in South Tyler.

Tyler Police Spokesperson Don Martin says the Compass Bank at 6900 block of S. Broadway in Tyler was robbed just after 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

Martin says a man with a handgun, which he pulled from his shorts, made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Authorities say the man displayed the gun but never pointed it at anyone.

He left the bank on foot, police say.

Officer Martin says he believes this is the same suspect who robbed the Altra Federal Credit Union on Troup Highway in August of 2011.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a blue basketball jersey and blue shorts, approximately 5'10" and 180 pounds, with sandy blond hair and glasses.

Authorities say no one was hurt in the incident.

Tyler Police investigators are currently canvassing the scene and fingerprinting the doors used by the suspect.

Officer Martin told us, "due to the fact that we had good photos from that and we have good photos today, we do believe it is the same subject. The FBI is on scene as well, assisting the case with us, just like they did before. Hopefully we'll come up with some tips if someone recognizes this person."

Compass Bank is on the corner of South Broadway and Southtown Drive.
