Junior League Donates $230,073

Today, the Junior League of Tyler gave away more than $230,000 to about two dozen non-profit agencies in town.

St. Louis School in TISD was one of the recipients. The school got a $10,000 check. The principal says the money will go toward buying new equipment to help disabled students improve their motor skills.

"We have a great budget from Tyler ISD," Karyn Hacker said. "A lot of that goes to staff, so the extras and the frills that we get are from community supporters like Junior League. So without this grant, we would not have been able to provide this piece of equipment and this experience to our students."

Other Tyler agencies who received grants from the Junior League include Habitat for Humanity, ADAPT, and The Association for Retarded Citizens. The money came from proceeds from "Mistletoe and Magic," "Spring Sweep," and cookbook sales.
