Police Discover Children Inside Neglected Home

An unusual discovery today at a Tyler home.
After several complaints from neighbors of a bad smell,  Tyler police investigated a home on Houston St.
When they got arrived they found two children, a dozen cats, and unsanitary conditions.
Child Protective Services is investigating whether or not the children were living in the house.
Police say the mother of the two girls lives just two doors down.
The home where the kids was found belongs to an elderly woman staying in a nursing home. Police say the home had been neglected for some time.
"The house is in deplorable conditions, trash on the floor, animal feces on the floor," says Officer Chris Moore of the Tyler Police Department.  "The smell you can smell out here to the curb and up the street even."
Animal control was called out. They took away the cats. The house will be boarded up and could be condemned.
