East Texans help 'Strike out' cancer

Numerous East Texans made their way to Faulkner Park in Tyler on Saturday to help Collin Boyd 'Strike out' cancer.

The park was filled with little leaguers, their families, and many others, all there for a benefit baseball tournament to help Collin Boyd with his medical costs.

Collin Boyd was diagnosed with un-differentiated soft tissue sarcoma in March, a cancer that requires chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery.

Family friend and baseball coach Darrell Welch organized the tournament to support the Boyd family and help offset the cost of Collin's chemotherapy treatments.

The benefit tournament was complete with a silent auction, car wash, food, a dunk game and even a home run field.

Collin's father, Jimmy Boyd said he can't believe the out pouring of support they had today.

"The turnout has been amazing and the support from the community has been great," Boyd said. "Weather has been nice for today too, so it has been good."

If you were unable to make it out today, it's not too late to help out the Boyd family. Donations can be made at any Regions Bank branch to Jimmy Boyd for Collin Boyd.
