Nurse Charged With Trying To Electrocute Wife

An East Texas nurse is accused of trying to electrocute his wife while giving her a romantic bubble bath. The alleged incident happened in March. After a police investigation, 34-year-old William Wolfe was arrested Thursday at his home.

William is charged with criminal attempt at murder. He's a nurse at Henderson Memorial Hospital.

According to police, William's wife, Teresa, says her husband had fixed her a bubble bath, lit candles, and turned on a radio in the bathroom. Teresa says the radio was normally on a shelf across the bathroom from the tub, but this time, her husband had placed the radio on a bench and put the bench beside the tub. In addition, Teresa says William used an extension cord and plugged the radio into an outlet in an adjoining room.

In the arrest affidavit, Henderson police say, "The defendant was in the bathroom with her and she believes knocked the radio into the tub on purpose... She caught the radio before it hit the water and threw it out of the way... The defendant's reaction was 'not normal' and she became suspicious."

Teresa says she later looked on their home computer And discovered William had looked up websites dealing with bathtub electrocution. Police also searched the Wolfes' computer and found those websites.

Payroll records at Henderson Memorial Hospital show William had taken a life insurance policy on teresa five months before the alleged bathtub incident. A hospital spokesperson says they are shocked to hear about this incident and they're praying for William and his family.

William's attorney says William and Teresa have since separated, and William has filed for divorce. Teresa told police William had told her he has a gun and will not go to jail over this incident.

William is currently out of jail on bond. He's on unpaid leave from the hospital, while this case is still pending.
