Book Drive Benefits United Way

Employee's of Cox Communications in Tyler got a special treat for lunch Friday.

They were treated to some singing and dancing by students from the North Tyler Day Nursery. The kids came by to help thank the company and it's employees for donating more than 400 books to the United Way of Tyler/Smith County, as well as a check for $5,000.

Shenetha Howland works for Cox Communications and help organize the book drive. She said it was just a way for them to help out.

"There was a group of people that put everything together, came up with ideas as to how Cox could help the community," she said. "We've got so many needs out there and we just wanted to help."

Cox hopes to raise another $3,000 by auctioning off some items donated by the United Way.
