Baby rescued after wreck

On May 3rd 2012 at approximately 2047 hours Tyler Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a Major Traffic Accident at the intersection of Loop 323 and Old Bullard Road. Upon arrival, officers found that the collision involved two vehicles in the intersection. On scene investigation indicated that a Ford Windstar had been traveling eastbound on Loop 323.

A Nissan Maxima occupied by two females was traveling westbound on Loop 323 and was attempting to turn south on to Old Bullard Road. The Nissan failed to yield while making the turn and struck the Ford Windstar.

The force of the impact forced the Windstar into a light pole. The Windstar was partially overturned and came to rest on the traffic pole. A female occupants of the Windstar was pinned into the vehicle requiring the Tyler Fire Department to cut the victim out.

Also trapped in the vehicle was a baby that was secured in a child safety seat. Several bystanders assisted in extracting the victims from the vehicle. The baby did not appear to be injured, but the adult female suffered apparent severe injuries. Both were transported to Mother Francis Hospital. The extant of the adult victims injuries are unknown at this time. The driver of the Nissan was issued a citation for Failure to Yield.
